COUNSELING SERVICES

COUNSELING SERVICES

COUNSELING SERVICES

Jen, our Social Worker, offers counseling services, based on your interests and needs.  Whether by yourself, or with your family, or in a group  with other parents, Alison can help you resolve a crisis, set your own goals, or talk through a personal concern.

Where are counseling services provided? Your first meeting is usually at the Generations Ahead office at Traverse City High School. After that, Jen can meet you at your home,  the program office, or even at the park. Some people prefer having these meetings over the phone or via Zoom. We can do that too. Whatever is best for you!

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

COUNSELING SERVICES

COUNSELING SERVICES

Family activities are held every two week. We are holding some meetings on Zoom, and others in person around the community. Please contact us for more information and follow us on Facebook for up to date topics.

Playgroups take place at our office at TC High School, and sometimes we meet in the community at different locations including local parks, swimming pools, the library, the Children’s Museum, etc.  All activities are free for participants. This is a great time to have fun with your child.

Other family members are invited to participate too.

MENTORING PROGRAM

COUNSELING SERVICES

MENTORING PROGRAM

If you want, you’ll be matched with an adult who can offer friendship, guidance and time together as you prepare for your future.  Your mentor can help you focus on your educational and employment goals, your child’s development and your parenting skills, and she can help you connect with different community services.

Who are our  mentors ?

They're caring adults that believe in you and want to help you however you might need it. They are all trained and carefully screened, so we know they're safe for you and your child.

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

A Baby Pantry is available at the Generations Ahead office at Traverse City High School.  The new and gently used items vary with what has been donated, but always include baby and toddler clothing, maternity clothes, diapers, linens (blankets, crib sheets, towels etc.) On occasion, there are also larger donated items including bassinets, high chairs, and strollers.  Car seats are not available.

All items are free to clients.

If someone in the community has items to donate, please contact Kaili at our office:  231-883-0117.

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Summer interns are placed with local businesses to help young parents kick-start their careers.

This program offers coaching, mentorship support, and soft skills training to clients throughout their internship, in addition to stipends and other financial assistance. We ensure that clients will thrive and be as successful as possible within their placements.

Ensuring that clients can get their foot in the door and have successful careers to support their families is incredibly important to us. If you are interested in hosting an intern at your site please contact Marjorie Rich at 231-360-0053
