Healthy Relationships

Relationships take work- lots of conversation, give and take, and support. We all want to feel loved, and lifted up (not brought down) by those we care about. Whether it's your partner, friend, parent, mentor, or child, think about whether your relationships have these traits:

  • trust
  • independence
  • honesty
  • safe pace for growth
  • respect
  • equality
  • kindness
  • taking responsibility
  • healthy conflict
  • fun

If you would like to talk with our social worker about challenges in your relationship, please contact Alison at 231-590-2262.

Safe Sleep

More than 3,500 babies die suddenly and unexpectedly in the U.S. every year, often due to accidental suffocation or strangulation. That's why it's important to ensure proper safe sleep practices for your baby. This includes ensuring your baby sleeps on their back during their first year, using a firm sleep surface, removing soft and loose objects from the baby's sleep area, and never sharing a bed with your baby. When in doubt, remember the ABCs:

  • A is for Alone - Babies should not share their bed with anyone or any toys or blankets
  • B  is for Back -  Babies should be put to sleep on their backs
  • C is for Crib - Cribs or bassinets are the safest places for a baby to sleep in a protected, controlled environment

Child Development

Do you have questions about your child's development including:

  • when they should be eating solid food
  • when they should be rolling over, crawling, and walking
  • sleep issues (how much they should be sleeping, what does safe sleep look like)
  • other milestones for their age group

We have lots of information on child growth and development. Call anytime if you want to learn more, or have questions about your baby. (231-590-2262)

Check out the CDC's site below and check your baby's age group to see how best to nurture their growth and monitor their development!
